LAW AND ENFORCEMENT RELATED VISAS
S Visas
S-5 : For people determined to be essential by the Attorney General and to have reliable and critical information about a criminal enterprise or organization.
S-6 : For individuals jointly determined by the Secretary of State and the Attorney General as having critical and reliable information concerning a terrorist organization where the person seeking the visa is, or will be, in danger if the visa is not granted.
S-7 : For family members of S-5 and S-6 holders.
T Visas : [Up to 5,000 visas] for persons who have been the subjects of severe trafficking who agree to assist in prosecutions or are under the age of 18 who would suffer "extreme hardhip involving unusual and severe harm upon removal." Severe trafficking is defined as:
T visas are good for three years. A T visa holder may seek adjustment of status to Legal Permanent Residence (LPR) if he or she has maintained status, been of good moral character, and complied with reasonable requests for assistance in prosecuting trafficking.
U Visas : For a person who has been a victim of a serious violent crime and has suffered physical or mental abuse as a result. The victim - in order to qualify - must have been helpful, is being helpful, or likely will be helpful, to a federal, state, or local law enforcement official.
